MessageIQ field guide · SMS planning

Make the message mean something.

Before an offer lands in someone’s inbox, know who it’s for, why they’ll hear from you, and what they can do next. Start with a clearer promotional SMS plan.

Planning only. MessageIQ does not send messages in this release. Activation is assisted, not automatic.

Four useful planning lenses

Purpose changes the plan.

Promotional is one of several message purposes. “Service implicit” and “service explicit” are used here as planning labels; confirm the current regulatory category, consent basis and template route for the actual use case.

01 / PROMO

Promotional

Advertising or promotional material for a product or service. Mixed promotional and service content should be treated as promotional.

02 / SERVICE

Service implicit

A planning label for non-promotional information linked to a product or service already used or purchased by the customer.

03 / SERVICE

Service explicit

A planning label for a non-promotional service message connected to an ongoing purchase or use after explicit consent.

04 / EVENT

Transactional

A non-promotional response to a customer-initiated transaction, such as an eligible OTP, alert or confirmation.

Interactive message-category checker

Not sure where it fits?

Share a sample message and get an indicative planning signal across promotional, service implicit, service explicit and transactional. Your result is shown only after the request submits successfully, and the sample wording is not retained in the lead record.

01 Describe the message

Share the message purpose and wording. Please leave out customer names, numbers and other personal information. Your sample wording is analyzed for this request but is not retained in the lead record.

02 Where we can send your result

Your result appears after your request is submitted.

A campaign brief worth keeping

Good planning starts before “send.”

Make the brief useful to your team—and to the people you’re contacting. A short pause up front can clarify the whole campaign.

  1. 01

    Name the audience

Describe who should receive the message and why they are relevant to this communication.

  2. 02

    State the purpose

Separate a genuine service update from a marketing offer. Mixed-purpose messages deserve a closer review.

  3. 03

    Make the next step obvious

Use recognizable business details, concise copy and a clear destination or action.

  4. 04

    Plan consent and opt-out

Document how you’ll handle permission, opt-outs and suppression for the audience and use case.

A one-minute brief

Put the important bits in one place.

Capture the practical details before asking for assisted activation. Current requirements and operator processes can change; review what applies to your specific audience and use case with qualified advisers.

Straight answers

Before you plan a campaign.

Does MessageIQ send promotional SMS?

No. MessageIQ does not send messages in this release. The experience is for business account preparation and assisted activation planning.

Is the category checker a compliance or DLT decision?

No. It provides an indicative planning signal based on the message details submitted. It is not legal advice, a definitive category or DLT classification, or a substitute for reviewing current requirements.

Does a purchased contact list establish permission to message?

Do not assume that it does. Plan an appropriate basis for contacting each audience, consent where required and a clear opt-out or suppression process before any campaign.

What should I prepare before an activation conversation?

Write down your business identity, use case, intended audience, message purpose, expected schedule, opt-out approach and any questions about current requirements.
